Las Vegas is reeling from another major police incident as SWAT teams and crisis negotiators descended on a street corner near the Trump International Hotel where, just hours earlier, a Tesla Cybertruck caught fire and exploded.
In the early hours of Thursday January 2, authorities were alerted to a disturbance at Fremont Street and Charleston Boulevard—the scene where an individual had reportedly barricaded himself on a bus. The individual’s status or whether others are trapped with him remains uncertain. The area has been cordoned off from the public while police investigate.
The shocking sequence of events follows closely on the heels of a dire episode, when a Tesla vehicle abruptly combusted and blew up outside the hotel of former US President Donald Trump.
The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police and Clark County Fire Department officials divulged in a press briefing that the catastrophic blaze claimed one life while inflicting injuries upon others. Investigative pursuits to ascertain possible connections between the bus blockade and the Tesla conflagration are actively underway, though police have yet to corroborate any theories.
After 1:24 am, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department declared via X (the platform once known as Twitter): “LVMPD is currently investigating a person barricaded on a bus near Fremont and Charleston Blvd. LVMPD SWAT and crisis negotiators are on the scene. Fremont Street is closed from Charleston and Oakey Blvd. Please avoid the area,” reports MailOnline
At 3am, an update was issued confirming that a person had been taken into custody in connection with the incident.
