The family of toddler Zachary Bradford have confirmed his passing after a ‘fight for life’ while awaiting organ donation.
The incredibly sick three-year-old, who needed a small bowel and liver transplant, died “peacefully” in his mum and dad’s arms on Thursday evening, January 2, after “fighting until the very last moment” in Glasgow’s Paediatric Intensive Care Unit.
The brave boy, from Kirkintilloch, defied the odds after doctors told him he just had weeks left to live in September, 2024. Since then, his parents Jade and Rhys Bradford desperately urged people to consider organ donation as little Zachary fought for his life while on a transplant list.

The young family confirmed the news this morning (January 3) on an Instagram page dedicated to Zachary’s transplant journey. Alongside a heartbreaking picture of Jade and Rhys holding their little one’s hand, the couple wrote: “Zachary Logan Bradford, in our hearts forever.
“After an intense 3 days in PICU, fighting til the very last moment, our boy left this world peacefully in our arms in the evening of 02.01.25.
“I’m struggling to comprehend or find the words for you my baby boy. I am beyond broken, my everything has been taken away and the pain that is left feels insufferable. You were simply the happiness in our life, and it will never be the same without you. You have taught us all so many lessons in your short life, and the one we really need to remember just now is to keep going, to keep smiling no matter the pain.
“I love you Zachary. Sweet Dreams my beautiful boy, we will see you soon”.

It comes just days after mum-of-two Jade made a New Years plea for Zachary, hoping that 2025 would be the year her son received the double organ donation that would put an end to his battle.
Those following Zachary’s journey have flooded the Bradford family with support following the news, with hundreds sharing their condolences in the comment section. One person wrote: “I’m so sorry for your loss. He was the most courageous fighter I’ve ever seen. I’m truly devastated for you all. Fly high beautiful angel”, another added: “This is heartbreaking what a brave little boy he was, you could see what a happy soul he was, you clearly gave him such a beautiful life. Something no family should go through, sending so much love. Sleep tight little one”.
