Keir Starmer hails Glasgow as ‘a great city’ in Commons on 850th anniversary

Keir Starmer has hailed Glasgow as “a great city” in the House of Commons.

The Prime Minister congratulated the city on its 850th anniversary on Wednesday afternoon.

He added that Glaswegians “have made and will continue to make a huge contribution to this country”.

Labour’s Glasgow West MP had asked Starmer if “People Make Glasgow” during Prime Minister’s Questions.

Ferguson said: “This year marks the 850th anniversary of my home city of Glasgow.

“One of the key aims of the celebration is speed up ambitions around the city council’s grand challenge: tackling poverty and inequality and increasing prosperity and opportunity. Themes that chime very clearly with this Government’s agenda too.
