Jack Walker has been active on social media recently as he continues to live as a free agent. The fullback is without a club following his departure from Hull FC but has been documenting his off-season, particularly on TikTok.
Walker spent one season at the MKM Stadium, which came following a short-term deal at Hull KR at the end of the 2023 season. It proved to be a short but successful spell as he scored five tries in ten appearances for the Robins on their way to the play-off semi-finals.
Those performances earned him a permanent deal on the other side of the city, however, Walker’s contract was ended via mutual consent at the end of last year, leaving him without a club.
Some Hull KR supporters have been engaging with Walker’s recent videos on the platform, with one admitting they were keen to see him return to the club after being let go by the club.
But clarifying what happened at the end of his time with Rovers, Walker said on TikTok: “So I’ve seen this comment a couple of times and Hull KR never offered me a deal.
“I’m pretty sure they had their team sorted before I even joined the club which wasn’t a problem. What Hull KR did for me was enable me to play Super League and put my face in the shop window for other clubs to come in and potentially get a deal for the following year for myself at another club.
“I played well and managed to get a deal at FC so it wasn’t like I was choosing one over the other, Hull KR didn’t offer me a deal and Hull FC offered me a deal.”
In a previous video, Walker had provided an update on his future.
“The next step for me, well, there isn’t a step right now. I’ve got no club, no one wants me. I’m just grinding away, doing my own pre-season, working hard and hopefully in the New Year I can potentially get a club.
“I would never wish injury on anyone, especially with the history I’ve had, but I think that’s the only way I’m going to be able to get into a team this year if there is an injury that occurs.
“If there’s an injury, hopefully I can go in and do a job and hopefully if I play well then that club will want me and I have a contract and I have a job.”
