ITV Masked Singer halted during ‘awkward’ moment on popular show

The Masked Singer judges were left speechless during tonight’s show due to an unexpected turn.

The ITV entertainment show was halted with just minutes to go, leaving presenter Joel Dommett to fill in time after judges Maya Jama, Jonathan Ross, Davina McCall and Mo Gilligan decided that Bear should remain in the show.

It meant that Toad in the Hole would be eliminated from the show. But before the character’s true identity could be revealed the contestant suddenly walked off stage.

It’s a moment one viewer described as the ‘most awkward moment of TV in 2025’.

The contestant was eventually brought back to stage to be unmasked, revealing their true identity as American singer and actress Macy Gray.

The judges, who had correctly guessed who was behind the mask earlier in the show, proceeded to interview Macy. But many viewers felt there was an “awkward” atmosphere.

One person wrote: “This is so awkward. She wants OFF that stage”. A second person wrote: “This is really uncomfortable viewing right now.” A third wrote: “Toad In A Hole walked off after being eliminated. Yikes.”

A fourth added: “I thought that was all exaggerated but she’s actually fuming”. Another said: “This might be the most awkward moment of TV in 2025.”

Masked Singer’s fans are also convinced Bush is a 90s TV icon and say they’ve cracked the case.
