It may be a new year but it is not a new Ruby in ITV Emmerdale as her problems seem to get bigger – especially as she admits her darkest secret to Chas.
After being put in Steph’s black book, Ruby is desperate to make it up to her but she makes every excuse under the sun to escape her and get out of the house. Not sure what else to do, Ruby finds Chas in the café and is invited over to the pub to search for the missing April.
However, Chas discovers Ruby already drunk just as they were about to leave to search for the missing teen and is in tears as she admits her dark secret – Caleb might not be Steph’s dad after she was raped as a teenager.
Just as Ruby tells Chas about her fears for the family as her secret finally comes out, their discussion is interrupted by Charity and she runs back home just in time for when everyone returns from the Woolpack. Ruby’s dad forces her to make tea in a bid to make it up to Steph. As she does, Ruby is seen ordering a DNA test.
Elsewhere, things are going from bad to worse for Marlon and Rhona after he admits that Laurel had tried to kiss him when she had a ‘few too many drinks’ – which led to her ruining her sobriety.
The pair, awaiting the safe return of missing April, are already struggling after the body of a dead girl was discovered at the hospital – which causes him to snap at Rhona when she puts April’s Christmas presents away.
Jacob is also left feeling distressed after causing a massive hiccup at the hospital and nearly runs over Manpreet due to being overtired from his shift. He later is forced to see her in the café, where she tries to reassure him that he is doing a good job on the placement and teaches him some coping mechanisms.
