A ‘Stupid Good Pizza’ store is set to launch in Stockton.
16-inch New York style pizzas are set to be served up to Teessiders as Jason Jahangiry and Jamie Shires open their second pizzeria eatery. The business partners started ‘Stupid Good Pizza’ at the beginning of 2024, with their first premises in Hartlepool launching in March last year.
After ‘sell-out’ weeks, the pair decided to ask their 6,000 followers on Instagram where they should open next and Stockton topped the poll. So the Teessiders made it a reality and have transformed the former Italiano’s takeaway, on Bishopton Lane, into Stupid Good Pizza’s second location.
The hatch-style service eatery – that only allows customers to collect a pre-order – certainly attracts attention with its bright red exterior, with the ‘Stupid Good’ branding painted on the front. After a year on the market, Jason, 34, spoke to Teesside Live about how the business began and why Stupid Good Pizza stands out from the crowd.
The Middlesbrough man explained that the takeaway only sells full New York style pizza and dough is made fresh daily. “We think it’s the perfect slice of pizza with the crust and toppings,” Jason explained.
“We did try doing it smaller but we weren’t happy with how it was going out. 16-inch is just perfect.”

The entrepreneur told Teesside Live that one of the most important features of the pizza is the fresh dough that is made daily and left to prove for 48-hours. “We’re using premium ingredients so the price reflects the ingredients we use,” he said. “People appreciate the work that goes into it.”
Jason added that the menu is kept “really small” so the owners focus on “working really hard” on what they’re selling to “put the best product out there”. They offer 12 different New York Style pizzas – with a ‘luxe’ range serving up Bolognese, ‘white gold’ and ‘bufala burrata’.
The classic pizza menu offers foodies’ favourites – as the name suggests – as well as ‘be cool, honey bunny’, pork pie, tye-dye-pie and ‘hot rod’. There’s also a range of fries, wings and dips for customers to choose from.

There’s one quirk to the eatery that is slightly different from most pizza shops – customers can only book slots online to collect their orders. “We sell out most nights,” Jason added.
“The slots go live on a Wednesday. The customers arrive for their order so nobody can just turn up. It’s a little bit different there’s no ringing up or waiting around. Customers can’t come into the shop, it’s just door service.”
The Stupid Good Pizza business was brought to life as the business partners both come from restaurant backgrounds. Jason is in marketing – currently working with Middlesbrough businesses Manjaros and Bloom – and helps the business grow.

Jamie, 35, from Hartlepool, is a chef and worked in many restaurants. Jason explained that Jamie focuses on the kitchen and product. “It’s quite good we work separately but also come together,” he said.
The Hartlepool location, on Brougham Terrace, employs eight staff and is open Thursday to Sunday 5pm until 10pm. The Stockton location, which has employed seven staff, is set to open soon – but the owners will confirm a date in the near future. The Bishopton Lane store will be open from Wednesday to Sunday 5pm until 10pm.
Jason explained that no matter where you get your Stupid Good Pizza from – it will all be the same. The business will have a central kitchen in Hartlepool where everything is made then everything will be delivered to each store accordingly.
