The leading supermarket for pay in Ireland has is recruiting dozens of jobs across Ireland with some slated for Co Galway.
Aldi is looking to fill a four store assistant roles at four stores in Co Galway, as they look to add a Store Assistant to their Loughrea, Ballinasloe, Mountbellew and Clifden branches..
Currently, the German supermarket chain is the market lead for pay in Ireland. Its starting rate for store assistants and warehouse operatives is €14.80 per hour – more than the current €13.50 minimum wage and more than the current rate set by The Living Wage Technical Group.

The store assistant roles offer pay of €14.80 to €16.90 per hour as well as four weeks paid leave, including Bank Holidays, and long service awards, maternity, paternity and adoption leave plus many more benefits subject to tenure.

The company has 11 stores in the county. Two in Galway city and a store in Athenry, Ballinasloe, Clifden, Gort, Knocknacarra, Loughrea, Oranmore, Portumna and Tuam. A twelfth store will open in Co Galway in 2025. In 2022 alone, Aldi spent in excess of €20 million on local produce in Co Galway.
Aldi celebrated its 25th year in business in Ireland last year. Since it opened here in 1999, its network has grown to 163 stores and a staff of over 4,650 people. Aldi has paid over a billion euro in wages in that time.
Aldi has invested more than €10 billion with Irish suppliers since 1999 and currently works with a network of more than 330 Irish businesses.
