Investigation launched after four cars found burning before fire spread to Nottingham building

An investigation has been launched after a fire in Nottingham spread from four burnt out cars to nearby city building. Emergency services were called to Radford Road at 6.29am on Wednesday, January 15, to Universal Court industrial estate off Radford Road, Basford.

Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service (NFRS) sent two crews from Stockhill and one from Arnold to the incident. Upon arrival, four cars were found ‘well alight’ and the flames had spread to a building.

An investigation led by NFRS will take place on Wednesday to establish the circumstances of the incident, a spokesperson for the service told Nottinghamshire Live. Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust warned the CT4N Medilink bus operating between City Hospital and Queen’s Medical Centre was operating on a diverted route on Wednesday morning due to the fire.

Stops located on Wilkinson Street, North Gate and Hucknall Road cannot be served. A statement from the trust read: “A fire at the junction of Radford Road and Northgate is affecting Medilink services this morning.

“The service will not be serving stops on Wilkinson Street, Northgate, and Hucknall Road until further notice.”
