Inspirational Somerset woman set to finish her year-long mission

An inspirational Frome woman who has been running a mile every day this year in memory of her mother who died from cancer is due to finish her mission on New Year’s Eve in Frome.

On Tuesday, Rachel Clark will take the final steps in her awe-inspiring, year-long challenge which began on January 1 and so far has raised more than £9,000.

She has been running in memory of her Frome mother, who died from leukaemia, and to raise money for Frome charity We Hear You (WHY) which supports people and families affected by cancer.

Rachel said she found great solace and strength through the counselling services provided at WHY after losing her mother.

Rachel will conclude her 365-day journey by running her final mile to Frome Rugby Club surrounded by supporters, well-wishers, and the local community, marking a triumphant end to an extraordinary personal mission.

Rachel and her supporters will gather at noon at the club, with a warm-up for everyone taking place from 12.30-12.45pm – run by Frome fitness club Mojo Moves – before the final mile begins at 1pm.Spectators are invited to run or walk with Rachel to celebrate the end of her epic achievement.

“If you haven’t managed to join me yet and still wa nt to please come along to The Final Mile. It’ll be amazing to end this challenge with a big community turn out.”
