A photographer spotted a stunning vista of icicles on a hedgerow after temperatures plummeted to well below freezing. Rod Kirkpatrick photographed Carolyn Bointon and her dog Moreton next to the hedgerow near Ellastone, Staffordshire, on Friday, January 10. The village sits just on the border of Staffordshire and Derbyshire, next to Norbury, between Uttoxeter and Ashbourne.
The images come after the Met Office issued a yellow weather warning for ice for parts of Staffordshire and Derbyshire. Parts of Derbyshire have been hit by snow and sleet in recent weeks, causing travel disruption across the county.

The bad weather closed various roads across Derbyshire and Staffordshire, with floods also affecting the area. The Met Office said: “Keep yourself and your family safe when it is icy. Plan to leave the house at least five minutes earlier than normal. Not needing to rush reduces your risk of accidents, slips, and falls.
“If you need to make a journey on foot, try to use pavements along main roads, which are likely to be less slippery. Similarly, if cycling, try and stick to main roads which are more likely to have been treated.”
