A man claims to have had an eye-opening extra-terrestrial encounter last night – after spotting a ‘UFO’ in the night sky. Craig Gaunt, from Longton, was heading down the A50 towards PureGym when he spotted the unusual apparition.
As he was driving at around 7pm, a mysterious glowing light caught his eye. The keen amateur astronomer quickly pulled over to observe and document the phenomenon.
Craig, 34, told StokeonTrentLive: “As I was driving down the main road I noticed this big bright light in the sky. It piqued my interest because it didn’t look like something that’s normally in the sky.
“I pulled up and observed this light for about half an hour. It wasn’t moving, it was just stationary in the sky. And it was like nothing I’ve ever seen before. I grabbed my camera and started taking pictures with different zooms. It was pulsating, getting bigger and smaller.
“I saw a couple of aeroplanes in the sky flashing nearby. And this thing looked huge compared to them. It made them look like ants. So it definitely wasn’t a plane or any aircraft from Earth because, well, if it makes a plane look small what else could it possibly be?
“After I watched it for a bit, I got back in my car and headed to the gym. I noticed it was still there when I arrived, so I called my father and he could see it too. He wasn’t sure what it was either. When I got out of the gym, it had completely vanished.”
Courier driver Craig has previously completed a year studying astronomy at the Open University. He has theories on what the glowing spectre could be.
The light appeared to pulsate
He added: “I’d like to think it was a UFO. There are a lot of mysteries out there though, so I mean it could’ve been all sorts of things. Perhaps something we don’t understand in space, maybe a portal or something. It did look really strange.
“I’ve always been curious about this sort of thing because I’m into space. When I left school I started doing my own research and stuff. I’ve come away from it now, but the interest is still there.
“I’ll always be looking up. Especially after what I saw last night – I’ll definitely be keeping an eye out.”
