'I was suffering with £100K debt but these frugal hacks have saved me thousands'

It’s that time of year when many of us are feeling the pinch after Christmas and New Year’s Eve celebrations, and are on the hunt for ways to save some extra cash. As the new year rolls in, many of us make resolutions about our finances, but sticking to them can be a challenge.

One thrifty man has revealed how he managed to stash away over £16,000 last month thanks to some simple tricks. The penny-pinching man decided to overhaul his lifestyle after finding himself buried under a whopping £104,150 of debt.

Bradley, 32, manages to save thousands by eating the same meal every day – using store brand products – and he only owns one plate. He ensures all his appliances are unplugged when he leaves the house, and refuses to turn on the heating – no matter how chilly he gets.

The smart saver, who resides in Connecticut in the US, spent just £1,026 over the festive period. His biggest outgoings were £600 on rent, £66.93 on car insurance, £47.02 on petrol, £41.45 on electricity, £36.70 on internet and £147 on food.

All he splashed out on fun was £37.48 and gifts cost him £33.50. “Learn to appreciate what you have instead of looking for any excuse to throw it away,” advises Bradley.

He rakes in at least £8,000 a month through his content creation, financial coaching, dog sitting, answering calls on a crisis hotline, gardening and cleaning houses. In December, he earned over £15K and spent just over £1,000.

The frugal influencer, with a massive following of over 500,000 fans, revealed: “I know some of you think all I do is stare at a wall all day, but I actually have a really fun life. It’s just all about having self control and moderation.”

Bradley, who has banked an impressive near £200,000, swears that the real secret to racking up savings is cutting out extras like subscriptions, high street coffee, health insurance, pay TV, shopping sprees, and family phone plans. He adopts a no-nonsense approach, asserting, “You either get it or you don’t.”

He labels dining out as “expensive and stupid”, and on his TikTok profile @baddie.brad he advises: “Literally one of the easiest ways to start saving every month is to start cooking your food at home. Wake up.”

This penny-pinching guru, who describes his parents’ lifestyle as one of excessive consumption, claims he only splurges on truly memorable things. Cars and clothes that would seldom see use are definitely off his shopping list, as is the rush to own a property.

With no specific desire to invest in bricks and mortar, Bradley went on to say: “I have everything that I need and learned to be grateful for it which doesn’t make me desire wanting more.”
