Hundreds of residents in Louth and the surrounding areas have been affected by a power cut this morning (New Year’s Day).
Residents – who also report experiencing a power cut in their homes on Christmas Day – received this message from Northern Powergrid this morning: “Hi, it’s Northern Powergrid, we know there’s a power cut in your area. Delivering a 10/10 service is important to us, and we’re working to get the power back on by 11:00 AM, however please allow 30 minutes before or after this time.
“If it takes longer, we’ll let you know. You can track this power cut online and access extra advice and support at northernpowergrid.com/power-cuts-map or call 105 to speak to our team. Further text updates will follow.”
However, an update was then sent out to state the power will be back on by 1pm. It reads: “It’s taking longer than expected to get the power back on. We now expect it to be back on by 1:00 PM, however please allow 30 minutes before or after this time. If it takes longer, we’ll let you know.”
One resident said: “It’s awful for people who have got family or friends coming round and everything has to be postponed. Your plans go out the window. It happened on Christmas morning and timings went all awry. What about all the people in electric cars who have to travel today?
“People are panicking about the stuff they have in their freezers and how long it can last when power is off for four hours or more.”
According to the Northern Powergrid power cuts map, 612 properties in the Louth area have been affected.
Northern Powergrid has been contacted for comment.
