A new dad was amazed when his driving instructor gave him the car he learned to drive in for free before he went on to pass his test on the first attempt.
Jack Price, 20, from west Hull, has recently celebrated the birth of two-month-old Vinnie with his girlfriend. Ahead of the birth of his first child, he was learning to drive with local driving instructor Steven Hunter.
He told Hull Live he was over the moon when leading up to the test, Steven offered him the car he learned to drive in, a Nissan Micra. Initially, he thought Steven meant to sell it to him but with the arrival of his new baby boy, he didn’t have much money to spare.
Jack said: “I was in a lesson and we came to the end of it and pulled up outside my house and he said to me, ‘Would you be interested in wanting this car?’ I thought he meant me buying it and I thought I’d buy it depending on how much he wants for it.
“Anyway I said yes and messaged him later and said, ‘How much do you want for the car?’ He just replied to me, ‘Nothing, zilch, zero.’ Obviously I was a bit shocked but really grateful.

“I’ve never had anything like that happen to me before, but I’m really grateful for it because we’ve just had the baby and I’d never have been able to afford a car because my girlfriend’s already got one so it would be a struggle for me to have one myself.
“With him giving me this car, it has really helped me a lot. It’s not something you expect to happen to you.”
Steven told Hull Live he frequently upgrades his car due to being a driving instructor. He used to trade them in, but when the returns started diminishing, he decided it would be nice to donate them to students instead. This is the third car he has donated and he said Jack was “over the moon” with the unexpected gift.
Jack added: “I’d really recommend Steven for lessons. He is a really good instructor and really kind and sweet.”
