Ryan Longman admits he doesn’t know what the future holds for him as a Hull City player now the January transfer window is open for business.
Longman came off the bench at Blackburn Rovers on Sunday to guide in a precious winning goal for the Tigers, his first in Black and Amber in more than two years – his last coming in the 4-2 win at Rotherham United prior to Liam Rosenior’s arrival but is out injured again, and may have played his last game for the club.
The winger has returned to the fold at City this season following injuries to Liam Millar and Mohamed Belloumi, though he missed the first three months with a dislocated shoulder injury he picked up in the final friendly of the summer against Ruben Selles’ Reading.
Despite City remaining light in wide areas owing to the double ACL setback for Millar and Belloumi, Longman could be on the move again this month, having been the subject of interest from Derby County, and Millwall, where the winger spent last season on loan.
Longman is out of contract in the summer, and there has been no indication yet about talks over an extension to the deal he signed in January 2022 when he joined on a permanent basis from Brighton and Hove Albion following a positive loan spell from the Amex Stadium.
“I’m playing, I’m enjoying my football,” Longman told Hull Live. “The gaffer’s obviously put a lot of trust in me over the last few weeks that he’s been here, so I’m just enjoying my football.”
The former Seagulls winger admits there has been no contact from anyone at the club, and though he’d like to stay, he admits he’ll see what the future has in store, even if that is away from the MKM Stadium, with Scottish Premiership strugglers Hearts one of the clubs interested in making a move this month.
“No (no contact from the club), I’m just taking it game by game, to be honest,” he said. “I haven’t had any chats with anyone yet, so, I just take it game by game and hopefully build on my goals. Yeah (see his future at City), I will see where everything takes me.”
