Abu Kamara wants to build on his man of the performance against Leeds United as Hull City prepare to face Doncaster Rovers in the FA Cup third round.
City launch their campaign on Sunday lunchtime against Doncaster Rovers when they welcome back former boss Grant McCann to the MKM Stadium, looking to progress to the fourth round for the first time in five years.
The Tigers battled back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 in a pulsating Yorkshire derby with the Whites, with Kamara scoring a brace with one coming after five minutes, and his second in the 90th to snatch a point.
Attention now turns to the FA Cup for City and boss Ruben Selles, who will be determined to claim a third victory as Tigers boss and earn a place in Sunday afternoon’s fourth round draw, and Kamara is hoping to get the nod from the start and build on that terrific display.
“We’re going to go into the game like we always do and would love to get the win,” Kamara told Hull Live. “Another opportunity….don’t want to be changed (stay in the team). Definitely (momentum is so important). I want to keep the momentum going and build on what I’ve built here (against Leeds).
“I feel like this game was a perfect example of how together we are. We were together right until the end and you saw against Leeds where we got the draw because everyone was fully invested in what we had to do to get the point.”
A capacity MKM Stadium crowd roared City on against their Yorkshire rivals last weekend. While the attendance will be a lot lower against the League Two outfit from South Yorkshire, Kamara says the fans’ influence cannot be underestimated.
“Yes, definitely (how the fans can make a big difference),” he said. “The fans always play a part in helping us get over the line. If they are roaring us on it gives us that extra energy to go chase that ball down. Go that extra mile. Leeds are a top team so to come away with a point shows we are ready to battle against anyone.”
