Hull-born rugby league player Robbie Storey has signed for a new club following London Broncos’ relegation from Super League. The Broncos’ fate was sealed by IMG in October, with the capital club, who in the midst of financial difficulties have had to release the majority of their 2024 squad, also finishing in last place on the ladder.
Meanwhile, Storey, who scored four tries in 23 appearances for London last season, has secured his future into 2025, signing for an Australian club. The centre has joined Queensland Cup side Townsville Blackhawks, the feeder club for NRL side South Sydney Rabbitohs.
Storey joins former London teammate Jack Campagnolo at the Blackhawks, while ex-Leigh Leopards outside back Tom Nisbet is also on the books after leaving the Leythers at the end of last season.
Born in Hull and coming through the West Hull system, Storey signed for Castleford Tigers’ Academy before making his professional debut for French outfit Carcassonne. The centre then moved back to England with Dewsbury Rams before joining Doncaster. He also played for Hull Ionians in rugby union.
Storey then played for Keighley Cougars in 2023 before joining the Broncos ahead of 2024. He made his Super League debut last February and scored an 80-metre interception try against hometown club Hull FC in round three.
