Huge fire rips through Glasgow home as video shows smoke billowing into the sky

Emergency crews raced to the scene of a house fire in Glasgow on Saturday, January 11.

Firefighters could be seen tackling the blaze on Fairbairn Path in the east end of the city after receiving reports of a property on fire at around 4.41pm.

In images shared with our sister title, the Record, the inferno can be seen engulfing the building with smoke tearing through the roof of the home.

Thick pockets of smoke can be seen billowing into the sky and across the city as firefighters battled the flames.

Three fire engines were drafted to the scene

Three fire engines were dispatched to the scene. It is currently unknown if there are any injuries.

A spokesperson for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: “We were alerted at 4.41pm on Saturday, January 11, to reports of a fire at a property on Fairbairn Path, Glasgow.

“Operations Control mobilised three appliances to the scene.

“Firefighters left the scene at 8.50pm after ensuring the area was safe.”
