Huge 999 response to crash on M6 near Coventry

Ambulances and police raced to a crash on the M6 close to Coventry early this morning. West Midlands Ambulance Service (WMAS) and West Midlands Police responded to 999 calls made at junction 2 northbound near Ansty at just after 5am.

It followed reports of a collision. As a result, two of the four lanes were closed.

A WMAS spokesperson said that they treated a man for a suspected medical episode at the scene. He was then taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment.

“We were called to reports of an RTC at junction 2 of the M6 northbound near Ansty, Coventry at 5.20am,” the WMAS spokesperson said. “We sent three ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene where, on arrival, crews found a man who was treated for a suspected medical episode and conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire.”

West Midlands Police confirmed that officers were sent to the scene. The lane closures remained in place for several hours before being re-opened again.
