How the new mini-roundabout looks on key Cheltenham road

Motorists are getting used to a temporary mini-roundabout on the edge of Cheltenham town centre. It’s been put in place on the A435 Evesham Road at its junction with Wellington Road.

Drivers will find a different flow of traffic as the lights at the busy junction are turned-off. The roundabout isn’t going to be there for ever, as new pedestrians crossings and traffic signals will be installed.

The county council’s highways team has urged drivers to approach the new junction with care – and to give way to traffic. It is a key route used by people heading into and out of town.

The road was closed overnight on Monday into Tuesday this week while the work was carried out. Footpaths around the junction were also closed.

Elsewhere in the county, motorists will face a long diversion route of around 12 miles as a small section of the A40 is closed for urgent roadworks. The closure will affect the London Road in Charlton Kings from tonight (Thursday) into Friday morning.

There are also temporary traffic lights will continue on the A436 at Barber Wood, near Ullenwood, until Friday, January 17 due to drainage CCTV investigation works. Expect delays.
