Film fans in Nottingham are relieved after Vue has confirmed it will be taking over the space left by Cineworld at The Cornerhouse in the city centre. Particularly happy are Sky Cinema members, who are already revelling in the fact they should be able to get free tickets to screenings at the venue.
On Monday, Cineworld announced that it would be closing its Cornerhouse location at the start of February, and cited a “landlord’s decision” to reject its proposals. Vue then shared the news it would be moving into the space, with a spokesperson saying: “We’re very much looking forward to bringing guests the ultimate big screen experience later this year and will share more information in due course.”
One Nottingham resident, Glen Russell, wrote on Facebook that Vue’s takeover was excellent news “because Sky give away free Vue cinema tickets each month” and Neelam Irfan Shafiq said: “Will be able to use free Sky tickets now!”. Another, Emma Staples, also commented: “Can finally use my tickets from Sky then.”
Sky Cinema customers can enjoy two free Vue tickets every month for standard Sunday to Thursday screenings at any venue in the UK and Ireland.
To claim the tickets, you will need to download the My Sky app if you don’t already have it. Open it up and select the Sky VIP menu in the bottom right, then tap the “Your Vue Tickets” tile. You will need to confirm your email, read and accept the terms and conditions and click “Claim your codes”.
You will then be given two codes – each one lets you book one standard seat. To book your free tickets, head to myvue.com and enter the codes online, or show them at your local Vue.

Vue states that the offer is only open to active Sky Cinema customers and is unavailable to customers on a trial offer, NOW Cinema members or Virgin Media customers. Each code can only be used once and will expire either after being redeemed for a cinema ticket or at the end of the calendar month.
The promotion, which ends on December 31, 2025, does not apply to Event Cinema Screenings, meaning codes cannot be used for mother and baby screenings, senior screenings, movie marathons, scene screens or special previews, among other events.
Vue has 92 “state of the art” cinemas throughout the UK and Ireland, with more than 290 screens and 125,000 seats. Its venues span eight countries and 226 sites and it states that it is “committed to continued growth and development of its premium entertainment ‘big screen’ experience.
