A housebuilder behind a number of new homes developments across Wiltshire donated more than £80,000 to local charities in 2024.
Each year Barratt David Wilson Homes South West provides funding for charities and organisations across the region as part of its commitment to create positive legacies in the communities where it builds. Over the last 12 months the housebuilder has donated £80,877 to local concerns.
Prospect Hospice in Wroughton was just one charity to have benefitted from the housebuilder’s support in 2024. It has been the sole provider of end-of-life care for people across communities in north east Wiltshire including Swindon, Marlborough, Royal Wootton Bassett, Fairford and Lechlade in Gloucestershire since 1980.
Commenting on the donation, Jeremy Lune, Prospect Hospice’s CEO, said: “The charity only exists because of the generosity and support from our local community. Our funding from the NHS hasn’t risen in ten years, while everything has become more expensive. Prices have risen fast over the last few years, the cost of medical care is climbing and the price of energy to power our equipment has rocketed. It means that while our inpatient unit has room to look after 12 people, we can only afford to look after six. And the hardest part is that more people than ever need our care.
“The donation from Barratt David Wilson Homes South West means the world to all hospice staff and volunteers who understand the need for our services and support. The funding will help us continue to provide outstanding care and support to local people whenever and wherever they need it – whether that’s at the hospice or in their homes.”
Louise Ware, sales director for Barratt David Wilson Homes South West, added: “We’re proud to have supported so many incredible charities including Prospect Hospice and other community groups over the past 12 months that work tirelessly to improve the lives of those in need. Their dedication and impact are truly inspiring, and we’re delighted that our donations have played a part in helping them reach even more people. As we look to 2025, we remain committed to making a positive difference in our communities and continuing our support for these vital organisations.”
Every month, each Barratt David Wilson Homes division can donate £1,500 to a local concern that works to improve the quality of life for those living in their area.
Barratt David Wilson Homes South West is building at Buckley Gardens on Semington Road. It includes 144 two, three, four and five-bedroom properties plus 43 affordable homes with a mixture of rent and shared ownership in partnership with a shared ownership provider.
It’s also building new homes with Barratt Homes Bristol in partnership with Swindon Borough Council, at Wichelstowe, one of the largest local authority joint venture agreements in the country and the South West’s boldest new developments. It will deliver 3,000 new homes over 20 years, along with new schools and community facilities. The 250-hectare site on the southern edge of Swindon will include extensive open spaces, nature conservation areas, playing pitches and allotments.
