Hour-by-hour Leicestershire forecast as more rain forecast amid flooding chaos

Further rain is expected in Leicester today (Tuesday, January 7) amid the county’s flooding chaos. Temperatures will also remain low and will not get any higher than 3C according to forecasters.

On Monday (January 6) the weather led to widespread flooding across Leicestershire. The fire service declared a major incident due to the amount of floodwater around the county. While some Flood Warnings have been removed, many still remain in place, with flooding expected by the Environment Agency in areas including Braunstone, Glenfield and Belgrave in Leicester, as well as in the areas on the River Soar between Leicester and Loughborough and along the Wreake Valley towards Melton.

There is also a Severe Flood Warning for caravan parks near Barrow Upon Soar. People are now being warned that further rain is expected this lunchtime adding to potential flooding fears around Leicestershire. The Met Office predicts it will be light rain or potential sleety showers.

Meanwhile, temperarures are expected to rain chilly throughout Tuesday, reaching a high of just 3C. The Met Office then predicts it could plummet as low as -2C overnight.

This is what we can expect from the weather between now and 7am on Wednesday (January 8):

  • 10am: 1C with some sun
  • 11am: 2C and the winds picking up a bit to about 9mph
  • 12 noon: 3C with light cloud
  • 1pm: 3C with a 36 per cent chance of rain for Leicester and winds up to 11mph
  • 2pm: 3C with a 13 per cent chance of rain in the city. Winds about 10mph
  • 3pm: 3C, no chance of rain, sunny intervals
  • 4pm: More of the same
  • 5pm: Back down to 2C, winds 9mph
  • 6pm: 2C with no chance of rain
  • 7pm: 1C, winds back up to 10mph and no rain
  • 8pm: The same with winds easing
  • 9pm: The same with winds down to 8mph
  • 10pm: No clouds, light winds and 1C
  • 11pm: As above
  • 12 midnight: Down to 0C
  • 1am Wednesday: 0C and 7mph winds
  • 2am: Winds easing to 6mph
  • 3am: As above
  • 4am: As before
  • 5am: Temperatures drop to -1C or even -2C
  • 6am: Temperatures remain below zero
  • 7am: About -1C, 5mph winds, no chance of rain.

The rest of Wednesday will likely see no rain but temperatures will only get up to about 2C before dropping to -2C on Wednesday night.

Thursday will be even colder, with temperatures in Leicester unlikely to rise about 1C and temperatures on Friday should be similar. But it should get up to 4C on Saturday, about 5C on Sunday and 7C on Monday, with daily max temperatures remaining above 7C until Monday, January 20.
