Holiday auction to raise money for childhood cancer charity

A childhood cancer charity fund is auctioning 13 holiday lets in a bid to raise more funds for families living with childhood cancer. Be More Frank, has been gifted the lets.

Be More Frank was established in Hereford by Emma and Eddie Cleal after their youngest son Frank died from cancer in 2021. Frank was 13 years old when he died and lived his short life to the full.

Emma Cleal, Frank’s Mum and founder of Be More Frank said: “This is the third holiday let auction we have been fortunate enough to offer and they keep getting bigger and better, we really are so grateful to the community for the continued support we receive.

“The holidays are valued at several thousand pounds and profits raised will really help local families. The auction ends on Sunday January 5 giving people a chance to secure a lovely break away for the year ahead, whilst supporting a local charity fund, win win.

“The funds raised from this incredible auction will go quite some way in enabling us to continue providing grants to families facing their darkest months and years. What it also does is raise awareness for this much needed support that Be More Frank provide.

“I know myself when Frank was having treatment the pressures it puts on you as a family, aside from emotional and physical, are also mental and practical. You can’t go to work, and you are worrying about how you are just going to pay your bills. We hope that we can relieve some of that stress for these families.”

Dr Jennifer Kelly, founder and CEO of the Grace Kelly Childhood Cancer Trust said: “It is wonderful to see how much Be More Frank has achieved since it was founded. As a charity, we are so grateful for Emma and Eddie’s tireless fundraising, which has enabled us to provide financial support to so many more families.

“It has also enabled us to double the size of the grants that families receive, meaning that our support can go even further. What an incredible legacy for a very special young man. #BeMoreFrank.“

The breaks range in location from Snowdon to the Forest of Dean to Lake Bala, the New Forest, rural Herefordshire and even the heart of Weobley. Many are dog-friendly, there really is a variety to suit a range of holiday requirements.

Be More Frank provide grants to the families of children with cancer in Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Gloucestershire, Monmouthshire, Powys and Ceredigion. The grants are not means tested and are straight-forward to access. To date Be More Frank has raised £206.1k in Frank’s honour.
