A woman who suffered a serious fall while out hiking crawled back to her phone and managed to call 999.
She was eventually rescued by Rossendale and Pendle Mountain Rescue Team (RPMRT) alongside police and paramedics. Rescuers had to stretcher the woman 200 metres to safety where she was then rushed to hospital by a waiting ambulance.
A spokesman for RPMRT said: “After a quiet Christmas the team were called out to reports of a woman that had taken a serious slip and crawled to be able to call the emergency services.
“On arrival along with North West Ambulance Service and police, we assisted the NHS Hazardous Area Response Team to carry the woman 200 metres to the ambulance to be taken to hospital. Take care out there folks as conditions are wintry and can be unpredictable. We hope the woman has a speedy recovery.”
