Heavy snow falling across North Staffordshire as wintry snap could last all day

Heavy snow is once again falling across North Staffordshire this morning in what could represent a day of wintry conditions. Early morning snow had already left a decent blanket around the Potteries, Moorlands and Newcastle.

But at around 10.30am and heavy snow has started to fall again.

Meteorologists with the Met Office reckon some areas could experience snow all day in what is shaping up to be an extremely wintry day all across the area.

This morning’s snow had already seen a number of schools forced to close for a second day. The conditions also resulted in challenging conditions for commuters.

The Met Office says Leek and the surrounding areas could see ‘heavy snow’ between now and around 6pm tonight when light flurries will continue to around 9pm. In the city and sleet is forecast up until 4pm when there will be light flurries until 9pm.

Newcastle is expected to see sleet and heavy snow at around 4pm and then flurries through to 10pm. This will all be set to a backdrop of low temperatures while it will feel like -4C.

Despite the sleet predictions and at the time of reporting there is heavy snow in the city, Newcastle and the Moorlands at the moment.
