Sound the klaxon as Haggy is getting a Spoons, or to put it more officially, Wetherspoons has confirmed that it will open a new pub at holiday hotspot Haggerston Castle.
A hugely popular location for families from all over the UK for decades and decades now, Haggerston Castle, just a few miles away from Berwick-upon-Tweed and the English./Scottish border, has certainly changed a lot over the years and will soon have a big new addition in the form of its very own Wetherspoons.
At present, the only Haven holiday park to have its own Spoons is Primrose Valley, but that will all change now that JD Wetherspoon have announced that it will soon be expanding to four more sites – Haggerston Castle in Northumberland being one and Cleethorpes Beach, Devon Cliffs, and Kent Coast the others.
Haggerston Castle’s first ever Wetherspoons will be called The Sir Thomas Haggerston and, while not set to open until the spring, its menu has already appeared online, boasting everything you’d expect from a trip to Spoons, including burgers, breakfasts and steaks.
THe reaction to the news that Spoons is opening at Haggy has already been big, with many holidaymakers left with one burning question – ‘will it be Spoons prices or Haven prices?’ Another follower of the resort’s page responded: “Fabulous, thanks for sharing this exciting news! Looking forward to being back and seeing how good it is” with another comment reading: “Can’t wait to get back to try this out looks amazing”
Since opening in February 2024, the J D Wetherspoon pub The Five Stones at Primrose Valley has already seen over 168,000 draught pints poured, 25,000 bottles of beer and cider served, and nearly 200,000 soft drinks enjoyed by guests. 67,000 breakfasts have been plated, and 314,000 main meals sold, excluding sides and extras.
