The owner of a Govan cafe has announced they are closing due a number of reasons, including “rising costs” and “family commitments”.
Announcing the closure with “great sadness” on social media, the owners of Carlyle’s Cafe Govan, on Elderpark Street, admitted that it was the “right time” to close following a four year run.
However, they noted that their pre-packed breakfast items will still be available from a nearby convenience store and that their Clydebank cafe will remain open.
The Facebook post said: “It’s with great sadness that we need to announce this.
“Due to health, family commitments and rising energy, food, packaging, materials costs etc we have decided that now is the right time to close the cafe.
“We would like to thank all our customers in Govan new and old for your continued support over the last four years. It’s been a blast. We have met so many new people who are now friends and we wish yous all the very best for the future.
“You will still be able to buy Carlyle’s Fine Foods pre-packed brekky items from Maliks convenience store located just around the corner (5 Uist Street).
“Once again thank yous all for your continued support from Reece, all staff & the whole family. We hope to see yous all again in the future. Carlyle’s Café Clydebank & Carlyles fine foods are open as usual.”
Customers of the cafe flocked to the comments to express their sadness at the news.
One person said: “Yous were the best. By far cafe about yous will be defos missed.”
Another added: “Aww that’s a shame good luck in the future.”
