Get Leicestershire flooding updates on WhatsApp as chaos continues

Severe flooding across Leicestershire has put lives in danger, flooded homes and caused chaos for traffic and transport. Multiple emergency services declared critical status on Monday (January 6) with East Midlands Ambulance Service declaring its first-ever critical incident as crews responded to calls for help.

Flood warnings remain in place following heavy rainfall and there is also a Severe Flood Warning – meaning a danger to life – for caravan parks near the River Soar at Barrow upon Soar. Other areas under flood warnings include Loughborough, Glenfield, Anstey, Thrussington, Ratcliffe on the Wreake, Rearsby, Frisby-on-the-Wreake, Rushey Mead, Aylestone, Sharnford, and Whetstone.
