Gang of youths throw glass bottles in Clydebank attack as man hospitalised

Two men were allegedly assaulted by a gang of youths in an attack in Clydebank.

Glass bottles were thrown at the two 21-year-old men, who were also punched to the face with one man kicked in the face, police said. The pair were walking the Forth and Clyde Canal tow path near Whitecrook Street between 11.10pm and 11.30pm on Saturday, December 28, when they came across a ‘large group’ of youths, both male and female.

Police said the two men were assaulted during a disturbance. One man was taken to hospital and received treatment for his injuries. Detectives are working to identify to youths allegedly involved in the incident, gathering CCTV footage.

Detective Constable Georgia Callander said: “I am appealing to anyone who may have any information about this incident to get in touch. If anyone saw or noticed anything suspicious, or has any information on those involved, please do get in touch with us.

“In particular, anyone with video footage from around the area that may have captured images which could assist the investigation.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland via 101, quoting reference 3803 of 28 December. Alternatively, please call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be given anonymously.”
