Tributes have flowed for Galway man who has died in Australia as he is remembered as ‘a lovely guy with a cheeky grin’.
Galway man John Furey, who was from the Doughiska area, died in Australia over two weeks ago, leaving his family back in Galway devastated.
John had been living in Coffs Harbour in Australia and sadly passed away on December 18 2024. This week his family will bury him in Ireland.
His requiem Mass will take place at the Good Shepherd Church in Doughiska and his ashes will be taken to Castlegar Cemetery.
The post on RIP.ie reads: “On the 18th of December 2024, John passed away in Australia. John will be sadly missed by his parents Nora and Declan and by his family and friends.
“John’s Requiem Mass will be held in the Good Shepherd Church, Doughiska (H91 DKF7), on Thursday, the 16th of January, at 11.00am, with burial of his ashes afterwards, in Castlegar Cemetery.
“Book of Condolence: For those of you who would like to leave a message of sympathy for the family, you are invited to leave a personal message in the condolence section below. The family would like to thank you for the kindness and support which has been shown to them, at this sad time.”
Tributes have flowed for John and his family, with many of his friends from school sharing their sadness at the news, adding that he was ‘a lovely guy’.
