A Galway football star and his fiancée celebrated their engagement at an iconic local pub and showed off photos of the happy couple sipping champagne with friends.
Galway and Corofin star Liam Silke put a ring on it with partner Róisín Hession earlier this week, with photo circulating of the pair with friends and of the big rock on the engagement ring.
Galway Footballers Homepage wished the Galway and Corofin Senior Football star as they got engaged: “Congratulations to Liam Silke & Roisín Hession on their engagement.”
Hosts Reapy’s Bar also wished the couple a happy engagement and the best of luck: “Congratulations to Liam and Róisín on their engagement.”
30-year-old Liam is the nephew of Galway football icon and All-Ireland winning captain, Liam Silke, and is a stylish defender like his uncle.
And like his uncle, he was tasted no little success on the field, especially with club Corofin. Three-time All-Ireland club winner Silke has also taken three Connacht Senior Football Championship titles with Galway, and was feted with an All-Star in 2022 as the Tribesmen reached the All-Ireland final.
And it was good news for the hurlers this week as well as Galway senior hurling full-forward Conor Cooney married Maria Walsh on Monday 30 December 2024, with his club sharing the news and a photo of the couple.
St. Thomas’ hurling club announced the good news to locals and the wider GAA community: “Best wishes to Conor Cooney & Maria Walsh on their Wedding Day today. We wish ye a lifetime of health & happiness.”
Conor Cooney, an All-Star winner and member of the Galway Liam-winning side of 2017. At club level, Cooney has tasted continual success as part of the St. Thomas hurling’s golden generation.
