Forensics comb Hamilton house after pensioner found dead as woman arrested

Forensics have been spotted scouring a Hamilton house after a pensioner was found dead.

Emergency services were called to a report of a woman seriously injured inside a property on Gilmour Drive at around 8.25pm on Wednesday, January 15.

On their arrival, a 78-year-old woman was pronounced dead. Her death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem is due to be carried out.

A 49-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with assault and officers remain at the scene as an investigation gets underway.

Pictures from the scene show blue tape erected around the home, with numerous forensic officers seen going in and coming out with what appears to be bags of evidence.

Police officers are also standing guard outside while a probe to determine what happened is carried out.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland previously said: “Around 8.25pm on Wednesday, January 15, 2025, we were called to a report of a woman seriously injured within a house in Gilmour Drive, Hamilton.

“Emergency services attended and a 78-year-old woman was pronounced dead. The death is being treated as unexplained and a post-mortem examination will be carried out.

“Officers remain at the scene and anyone with any concerns can approach these officers.

“A 49-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with assault. Enquiries are ongoing.”
