Flood warnings remain in place in Staffordshire after heavy rain and snow raised river levels. It comes as Sunday saw a mixture of the two weather conditions – before more snow yesterday.
Today has represented the third consecutive morning where families have woken up to a blanket of snow. Now the Environment Agency has confirmed that flood warnings remain in place in parts of the county.
Yesterday saw a number of roads left under water as the snow melted. That included the A34 around Talke by the A500 roundabout.
In addition and the A500 northbound slip-road also had to be shut off due to flooding. Today and the conditions have been far more wintry with heavy snowfalls in the early hours and again during mid-morning.
But there is flooding being reported on Porthill Bank near the A500 roundabout.
Currently all the flood warnings are in the south of the county and are in place for the River Trent at Great Haywood, Rugeley and around Blithfield Reservoir. Meanwhile there are flood alerts for the rivers Churnet and Tean near Kingsley and along with the rivers Blithe, Swarbourn, Sow and Penk towards the south.
Photographs from around Stafford show whole car parks turned into lakes and roads shut.
