Five adorable rescue dogs looking for their forever homes

Every dog deserves a loving home.

Sadly each year many find themselves in rescue centres due to their difficult circumstances at home. The RSPCA currently has a rehoming crisis with animals coming into shelter faster than they can be rehomed.

Shelters in Lancashire have a range of dogs looking to be matched with their perfect home, from adorable Teddy, the long haired daschund to Daisy, an independent lurcher who just needs a chance.

Teddy

Teddy (main picture) is a handsome two-year-old Daschund. Due to His past, he can be a little nervous, especially around men.

He can become vocal and unsure at first, but with correct introductions, over time he will make friends. Teddy is curently on anti-anxiety medication, and can be a bit pully on the lead, which is something he is working on at the centre. Once Teddy gets to know you, he loves a fuss and a cuddle, and will be your best friend.

Teddy can live with children age 15+ and has previously lived with cats.

Chewy

Chewy is an affectionate seven-year-old Shih Tzu cross who loves nothing more than a good cuddle. In Chewy’s dream home he will get endless amounts of fuss and attention, along with the occasional treat.

He can be nervous at first, especially with men which means it can take time for bonds to be formed with him. However, once he trusts you, you will have a friend for life.

Chewy can be nervous when things move too fast over his head or near him and for this reason he would be best in a home with children of at least 15+ years old. Chewy is dog reactive out on his walks when dogs get too close, with training he is getting better with this however, continued training will be needed in a home.

Chewy will need to be the only dog in the home.

Tess

Tess is a beautiful seven-year-old Mastiff cross.

Tess is a lovely girl who takes everything in her stride, she isn’t fazed by new surroundings but will sometimes be unsure of new people, but not for long at all. You will usually find her chilling in her bed watching the staff working around her.

Despite her age she is a very spritely girl who loves to be running about burning off some energy, especially with toys to play with, the toys don’t always last too long with Tess but she loves them all the same.

Tess is very food motivated and works very well for her food which makes training her a dream; she knows: sit paw and down already and is always eager to please; although she is a sensitive girl she can snatch with her food so this is something we are working on with her.

This sweet girl enjoys doing her own thing and enjoys a fuss every now and again but she is a very independent girl who loves food more than life itself. Tess can pull on the lead so is looking for a family who are able to continue this work once in the home.

Rocky

Rocky is a seven-year-old Jack Russell terrier, and is full of beans. He loves nothing more than chasing a tennis ball around our social pen, and going on adventures.

Rocky has had quite a difficult past, and can be a little wary and nervous initially, but once he gets to know you, he will be your best friend. He can also be a little touch sensitive, and easily startled if he can’t see your hand approaching him for a stroke.

Rocky can get very easily excited and a little overwhelmed especially around his toys and meeting people which can result in Rocky being a little bit mouthy. This is something He is working on at the centre and this will need to be continued in his new home.

Daisy

Daisy was born at the centre after her mum was brought in due to welfare concerns. She has spent the first part of her life in a home but after a while she began to find life a little overwhelming so she came back to the centre and has since been assessed and helped by a clinical behaviourist.

She has come on leaps and bounds in the time she has been at the centre. She is quite independent and will happily play and spend time alone but she can however be very loveable and affectionate and will seek out interactions from the kennel staff.

Daisy can be sensitive to touch and isn’t keen on being overly fussed but clear boundaries have made her relationships with staff much stronger.

Daisy adores other dogs but can sometimes be very forward with her interactions as she is so excited to meet everyone and her large size doesn’t help! We do feel though that she could potentially live with another tolerant dog following careful introductions at the animal centre.
