First photos from Oxford Street stabbing scene as forensic experts gather evidence from knife attack

The first photos from the early morning stabbing on Oxford Street show forensic experts combing the scene for evidence. The sheer scale of the police cordon is clear in the images as it stretches around the area outside Bond Street Underground station, with debris from emergency services kits still seen in the street.

A 25-year-old man is in hospital after being stabbed at about 4am today (New Year’s Day, Wednesday, January 1) following a knife fight. A Met Police spokesperson said: “At 4.04am on Wednesday, January 1, police were called to Oxford Street, just outside Bond Street Underground Station, following reports of men armed with knives.

“Officers attended and at the junction of Oxford Street and South Malton Street they found a 25-year-old man with a stab wound. He has been taken to hospital and we await an update on his condition. An investigation is underway and a crime scene remains in place. At this early stage there have been no arrests.”

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called 4.06am this morning (Wednesday, January 1) to reports of a stabbing incident at the junction of South Malton Street and Oxford Street. We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a paramedic in a fast response car, a member of our Tactical Response Unit and London’s Air Ambulance. The first of our crews arrived in four minutes.

“Our crews treated a man at the scene, before taking him to hospital.” Anyone with information is asked to call 101, providing the reference 2175/01JAN. Information can also be provided to Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
