The first baby born this year in Glasgow arrived just three minutes after midnight.
Archie McGibbon arrived to mum Amy McGibbon, 30, and dad Nathan Parry, 34, at 12.03am on New Year’s Day. Bonny baby Archie was born at the Princess Royal Maternity Hospital weighing 9lbs 2oz.
“He’s a happy wee boy,” said proud dad Nathan. “He’s the quietest thing ever. He’s pretty much slept since being brought into the world.”
Archie is the first baby born to the pair. He was due on December 31, and was born by Caesarean section just after the bells. Nathan said Amy is doing “fantastic”.
He added: “He’s a wee chatter already. You just look at him and he has a grumble.”
David Lomond Heath was the first baby born at the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, arriving to parents Lewis and Erin Heath at 2.10am. “He’s full of life, curious and pretty strong,” said Lewis, 32.
David is named after Lewis’ father who sadly passed away ten years ago. Baby David weighs 8lbs 10oz.
Erin, 28, went into labour on December 31, but with a long labour expected the couple returned home from hospital to wait it out. Two hours later, the couple raced back to hospital, and bonny David arrived just 40 minutes later.
David is Erin’s second child, with five-year-old Russell welcoming a baby brother.
