Family pays tribute to ‘charismatic’ man, 59, found dead in Harlow town centre

The family of a man who was found dead in Harlow have described him as a “charismatic person”. Emergency services were called to The Rows in Harlow on December 18 following reports of a man found injured.

Police and ambulance colleagues attended shortly before 9.15pm but sadly Darren Moss, 59, was found dead at the scene. Three men – aged 43, 44 and 61 – were arrested on suspicion of murder but later released on bail until March 10.

Paying tribute to him, Darren’s family said: “There are no words that can convey the immense loss we all feel at Darren’s unexpected and sudden passing. Darren was a charismatic person who had the ability to find humour in everyday life. He made people laugh.

“When asked what the family will remember most about Darren, everyone has said the same: ‘He made me laugh, he was so funny’. Although it is difficult today to see beyond the grief we all feel, we will take comfort in the smiles and giggles he gave to us. Rest in peace dearest Darren. We all love you.”

Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding Darren’s death in Harlow. Essex Police has urged people to avoid speculating whilst officers carry out enquiries.

Detective Inspector Stewart Eastbrook said: “Our thoughts remain with Darren’s family at this challenging time for all involved. Specialist officers continue to explore a number of enquiries to build a picture of what led up to Darren’s death, and we would ask for patience and discourage people from speculating while this work goes on. I would also like to repeat our appeal for anyone in the area at the time of the incident, or anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage, to contact us.”
