Family pay tribute to ‘amazing, kind-hearted’ father-of-three killed in crash

Tributes have poured in for an ‘amazing’ and ‘kind’ father-of-three who was tragically killed in a horror crash at the weekend.

Alex Connor, 35, died following a collision involving a car and a pedestrian on the Upper Gransha Road in Bangor, Co Down at approximately 1.50am on Saturday.

Mr Connor’s family members paid heartbreaking tribute to him in a number of messages share on social media across the weekend.

In an emotional post shared on Facebook, his partner and the mother of their three children, Jennifer Kennedy, wrote: “Well today is not the day I would ever think would happen.”

“Today I lost my partner, my forever person, my best friend of 13 years. How I love you so much and forever.”

Jennifer described her husband as “the best thing to walk into my life and give me three beautiful children,” adding: “I could never thank you enough. Just know me and the kids love and miss you so much my beautiful.”

“It kills me you’re not here no more but we will see you again and once again be together forever my love.”

“This is not goodbye me and the kids will always think of you every day. No one will ever take the love we have.”

Jennifer’s post was flooded with messages of support from family and friends, with many also paying tribute to Mr Connor.

“My heart is broken for yous, was a gentleman and will be missed dearly,” said one person, while another added: “He loved you and the kids. I am lost for words I’ll be with u much as I can.”

Mr Connor’s uncle also paid an emotional tribute online, writing: “Heartbroken, my wee nephew taken to soon rip Alex, you will be sorely missed rest easy.”

Another relative wrote in a message shared on social media: “Rest in peace, Alex Connor. Still hard to believe, such an amazing, kind-hearted, funny brother-in-law. Truly missed, forever in my heart.”

DUP North Down MLA Peter Martin expressed his shock at the tragedy as he urged members of the public to assist the PSNI in their investigation into the fatal collision if possible.

“Devastating to see another death on our roads following a traffic collision on the upper Gransha Road on Saturday,” he said.

“My thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Alex Connor who was only 35.”

“I would urge anyone who may have dash cam footage or may have been in the area at the time and may have seen something that would be able to help the police with their investigation, please contact the PSNI.”

Detectives are currently “examining the circumstances” of the fatal collision in Bangor on Saturday and have appealed for information.

Roads Policing Inspector Cherith Adair said: “We are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed what happened or who has CCTV, dash-cam or other footage which could assist with enquiries, to contact police on 101 quoting reference number 81 11/01/25.”
