Gritters will hit the streets of Warwickshire early this evening as temperatures are due to plummet. Warwickshire County Council’s highways team has confirmed that gritting will start at 5.30pm.
They have warned that a ‘long cold night’ is ahead with the Met Office’s latest local forecast warning that temperatures are set to fall to -6C. This will be at around 11pm.
These bitter temperatures will remain into the late night and into early tomorrow morning (Friday, January 3). In fact, by 6am the temperature is set to still be -6C.

The forecast states that it will rise to -4C at 10am but it will not reach beyond freezing until the early afternoon. The colder weather will also herald the chance of snow for our area.
There is a 45 hour yellow snow warning in place from 12noon on Saturday afternoon (December 4). Latest weather maps show that, by around 9pm on Saturday night, so is set to fall across our area.
Temperatures are set to remain cold into Sunday before turning milder by Monday.
