The exact dates a NEW Beast from the East could hammer the country – bringing fresh snow chaos after Christmas – has been revealed. The latest outlook from WXCharts, which uses data from MetDesk, shows the the projected outlook of mass snow heading towards the UK from the east.
The latest charts show snow sweeping over the east coast from January 26. Northern England will be worst-hit alongside Scotland, with Newcastle, the North Pennines National Landscape, Yorkshire Dales and North Moors set for flurries.
Snow depth charts show around 2cm hitting these areas across January 26 and 27. The North Pennines could see snow depths of up to 15cm (six inches), while the Cairngorms could be hit with 10cm, and south of England also at risk with flurries anticipated across Essex.

It comes as the BBC Weather team explains that the final days of January could prove to be wild, with wet and windy conditions more than likely. “Despite the uncertainty, there are indications that the unsettled and windy conditions will spread further, allowing the west to south-westerly flow to move eastwards over the UK in late January and early February,” the Beeb has said.
In an update from January 27 onwards, the BBC added: “Rain and increasing winds would become more probable, as stronger Atlantic weather systems move in. This would be a mild scenario. Certain sub-seasonal signals show some support for this trend. In view of this, only a little variability is expected later on.”
The Beeb went on, adding: “The latter would also suggest a low risk of any sustained cold. Nevertheless, cooler or colder snaps are possible behind intense low-pressure systems that bring a temporary west to north-westerly flow to parts of the UK.
“So, spells of sleet or wet snow cannot be ruled out, particularly across Scotland.”
