Lloyds Bank will be shutting a Cambridgeshire branch later in January. The company confirmed that its Wisbech branch would be closing in a statement to customers.
A Lloyds spokesperson said: “Before we close any branch, we look at how our customers are managing their money and using the branch. Most customers are now using our Mobile Banking app, Internet Banking or calling us instead.
“This means they are using branches, including our Wisbech branch much less. Because of this, we’ll be closing our Wisbech branch.”
The Wisbech bank, on North Brink, is due to close its doors on Wednesday, January 22. Once closed, the nearest Lloyds banks available to customers will be in King’s Lynn and Spalding.
Once the branch closes, a Community Banker in the area will be available to help customers. The company added that although the cash point at the Wisbech branch will close, there will still be a number of nearby free-to-use cash machines in the town, including HSBC in Cornhill and Nationwide Building Society in Market Place.
The bank found that 31 per cent of personal customers have also used other Lloyds Bank branches and 78 per cent of customers have also used other Lloyds Bank branches and internet banking or called them. They also found that 36 per cent of personal customers used the Wisbech branch and the Post Office in a 12-month period ending April 2024.
