Plymouth Argyle have spoken to former Huddersfield Town and Norwich City boss David Wagner about their managerial vacancy, Plymouth Live understands.
The Championship club have had talks with a number of candidates over recent days as they aim to make an appointment before the Emirates FA Cup third round tie away to Premier League club Brentford on Saturday.
One source told Plymouth Live at the weekend that Argyle had spoken to seven people, including their former League One title-winning manager Steven Schumacher, as they prepared to draw up a final shortlist.

Wagner, 53, is understood to have had initial conversations with Argyle as they seek to find a successor to Wayne Rooney, who left the club on New Year’s Eve after winning just four of his 23 Championship matches as head coach.
First team coach Kevin Nancekivell and injured club captain Joe Edwards have taken temporary charge for back-to-back draws, 2-2 at home to Bristol City on New Year’s Day and 0-0 away to Stoke City on Saturday.
Wagner led Huddersfield to promotion to the Premier League via the Championship play-offs in 2017 during a three-year stint at the West Yorkshire club, and he left in January 2019 with the Terriers bottom of the top flight.
He went on to have spells at Schalke in Germany and Swiss club Young Boys before taking over at Norwich in January 2023. He led the Canaries to a sixth place finish in the Championship in the 2023/24 season before they lost to Leeds United in the play-off semi-finals and was dismissed soon afterwards.
Wagner was the 8/1 second favourite with Sky Bet for the Argyle vacancy this afternoon, with Schumacher at the top of their betting market at 1/3. Meanwhile, Wagner was 6/1 joint second favourite with Bet Victor, along with ex-Pilgrims’ promotion-winning boss Ryan Lowe, again behind Schumacher, who was at odds of 1/2.
