Epic zipline challenge coming to iconic Royal Crescent

A charity zipline challenge is coming to one of Bath’s most stunning locations. The iconic Royal Crescent is the backdrop for Dorothy House Hospice Care’s Zipline.

The event, from February 28 to March 2, will offer supporters the chance to take on a hair-raising fundraising challenge to raise vital income for specialist end-of-life care across the city and beyond. The lower lawn of the Royal Crescent will host the first event of its kind for Bath.

The Bath City Zipline is intended to raise awareness of the important role their local hospice charity plays in supporting patients and families within their community. The event will offer a retail pop-up shop, preloved clothing and Dorothy House’s own brand Ubiety beauty and home fragrances, as well as stands highlighting the services Dorothy House delivers.

Dorothy House’s mission is to ensure that everyone has access to outstanding palliative and end-of-life care. Event visitors will also get the opportunity to meet staff and volunteers who care for patients and their families and who support the work of the hospice. 0

In a release, Dorothy House said: “The National Insurance changes announced in the recent budget will cost Dorothy House Hospice Care – who provide specialist care to over 3,000 people every year – an additional £422,000 per year, which the recent government announcement of a one-off cash injection has not completely addressed.”

Wayne de Leeuw, Chief Executive of Dorothy House Hospice Care said: “With an aging population causing ever increasing demand for end of life care our ambition remains to ensure we are there for everyone who needs us. The additional National Insurance cost of this scale just adds to the perfect storm facing hospices at a time when we already desperately needed more support.”

The release went on: “With national Hospice sector finances worse than they have been for 20 years, end-of-life services being cut and only 20% of Dorothy House’s total costs coming from the NHS, now more than ever, it is vital that the community understands the wide ranging and vital services the Hospice offers. Without their generosity, Dorothy House could not offer families in the community the support they deserve at the most vulnerable period in their lives.”

Registration for the Bath City Zipline is £35 and participants are required to raise £150 in support of Dorothy House Hospice Care. To register, head to the Dorothy House website now.

Local businesses looking for a unique high-profile advertising opportunity should get in touch with the event organiser to discuss exciting opportunities or download the sponsorship pack.
