Epic Plymouth DJ set to break Guinness World record with epic 80-hour rave

A legendary Plymouth DJ is more than half-way through an epic DJ set spanning across five days, in an attempt to smash a Guinness World Record.

Aldo Vanucci, who is known for his epic fundraising events to raise funds for Thinking Autism, wants to set a record for the longest DJ set ever. Aldo not only wants to break the current record of 51 hours, but he wants to completely shatter it, striving for 80 hours in total.

As of Friday morning, has been spinning tunes for more than 40 hours at Plymouth venue The Depo on Union Street. He has around 40 hours left to go – and is only taking four hours of breaks in total.

“This isn’t just about breaking a record,” says Aldo. “It’s about raising money for Thinking Autism.”

The ambitious challenge is testing his endurance, passion and the power of music. Fans can tune in to watch the entire event unfold via a live stream at www.aldoworldrecord.co.uk.

On Friday and Saturday night, The Depo will open the doors to the general public completely for free as the final two nights will be turned into music events.

To meet the strict rules of the attempt, Aldo must keep the music flowing continuously.

As part of Guinness World Record requirements, Aldo must achieve 50 concurrent viewers at all times. Aldo has been live from 3pm on Wednesday, January 8, and is continuing through until the early hours of Sunday morning.

In an update on Thursday evening, The Depo confirmed Aldo was “still going strong”. On Friday morning, The Depo added: “He’s still standing as we are into the latter half of Aldo’s mammoth world record attempt.

“As the current live stream record is 51 hours. Aldo will be set to break this later today. But he isn’t stopping there. Two club nights to close out the challenge.

“Tonight doors are open to the general public from 10pm with free entry. Want to pop in during the day and show support? Contact @thealdovanucci on insta. Keep it going Aldo you’re smashing it.”
