Enforcement action is being taken against businesses behind a ‘rats heaven’ in Coventry. Passersby were shocked at the sight opposite Pool Meadow Bus Station close to the Britannia Hotel.
Split open black bags were piled on top of each other with rubbish spilling onto the street. One resident dubbed the mess a ‘rats heaven’ and demanded action was taken.
CoventryLive contacted Coventry City Council about the mess on Monday (December 30) and today (January 2) it confirmed that action is being taken. This includes an ongoing enforcement notice to solve waste issues in the area.

A council spokesperson explained: “The bin store opposite Pool Meadow Bus Station is used by six businesses. The city council has historically worked with property’s owner, agent and tenants to improve the management of their waste.
“Most recently this has involved the city council issuing enforcement notices against the relevant parties. We can confirm that the property’s management agent has today arranged for a clearance of their tenants’ waste with a private contractor at their expense.
“We will continue to pursue this enforcement case until the tenants, landlord and agent manage their waste responsibly.”
