It’s the end of an era for Galway city as a beloved shop announced its permanent closure after two decades.
Bella Donna Bridal store in Lisboan Industrial Estate has shut its doors for good after 20 years in the city as owners say goodbye to their loyal customers.
In an announcement this week they thanked their ‘wonderful’ customers as they said it had been ‘an honour’ to play a special role in their weddings.
Despite the closure, Bella Donna Bridal confirmed that their sister shop, Smart Brides, would remain open at its location in Port Laoise.
Announcing the news on social media, the store said: “We have had the most amazing 20 years at Belladonna Bridal sharing so much love and joy with all of our wonderful Belladonna Brides. It has been an honour to play such a special role in your wedding journeys.
“Belladonna will cease trading from September 28th 2024. We wish to advise that our clients have been made aware of our difficult decision. Every bride will receive her ordered gown and plans are going into place to arrange collection of the dresses.
“We want to express that we truly value all your support. Please know that this has been a very difficult decision to have made.”
The announcement saw a slew of reactions from businesses in the area including Galway Bay Hotel who said: “We’re so sorry to hear this. It’s been out pleasure to collaborate with you over the years at our wedding events. Belladonna will be sorely missed amongst Galway’s wedding suppliers.”
Meanwhile Sandra’s Cakehouse added: “Sorry to see this. The very best of luck to Tina, she’ll be missed in the wedding industry in Galway!”
