Emmerdale fans are certain they know who is the dead body in the bag – and it’s a beloved Dales resident.
During Tuesday’s episode (December 31) the show aired five jaw-dropping moments that tease what’s to come next year. In typical soap fashion, the village is set to be rocked by more tragedy, with possible deaths ‘confirmed’.
Beloved villager Caleb Miligan (William Ash) is shown flatlining in a flashforward clip. Meanwhile, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) is seen crying at the grave of an unknown person, teasing another character who is set to be killed off.
And in a sinister turn of events, there’s a shock murder as a body, wrapped in black or green sheeting inside a bag, is dumped into a river of an evening.

Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw revealed: “The flashforwards will tease several storylines that will reveal a sneak peek of what’s to come across 2025.”
“As our villagers toast the New Year, a glimpse into each of their futures will be revealed. As the fate of those depicted hangs in the balance, the only thing for certain is it’s going to be an explosive year in Emmerdale.”
The flash-forwards soon sent fans into a frenzy, with plenty sharing their thoughts on which residents are getting killed off. What’s more, some viewers are convinced they know who is the dead body in the bag.
A body was dumped in a river
While some reckon it’s Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) abusive dad Anthony (Nicholas Day), others think it’s a soap legend. On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one person said: “OMG who is in the bag!! I think it’s Aaron pushing the bag.”
Someone else replied: “That better not be lovely Mack in that body bag!” While others fear it could be soap legend Kim Tate (Claire King). A third said: “I think it’s Kim in the body bag that’s thrown in the lake.” A fourth wrote: “Yes my money is on being Kim or Joe who is in the bag.”

Coming up on Emmerdale in 2025, Ruby Fox-Milligan is seen grappling with her past as she attempts to forge a new life with her daughter Steph Miligan. The presence of her abusive father, Anthony Fox in the village complicates matters further, especially since he’s aware of Ruby’s tryst with Cain Dingle.
In a heart-to-heart with Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), Ruby admits that Caleb might not be Steph’s biological father, and decides to take charge of her life. However, her secrets threaten to unravel, setting off a chain reaction that could destroy everything she’s worked to build.
Elsewhere Marlon Dingle (Mark Charnock), Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry) and April Windsor’s (Amelia Flannigan) loved ones are heartbroken as they start the New Year without knowing her whereabouts. Marlon is wracked with guilt, and when a secret comes to light, he and Rhona find it hard to unite and provide each other with the support they desperately need.
In another storyline, Dawn Fletcher (Olivia Bromley) mourns the loss of her father, Will Taylor. Initially, she is wary of Joe Tate’s (Ned Porteous) unexpected return, but soon uncovers something that shifts her suspicions towards her stepmother Kim Tate (Claire King).
