Emmerdale Henry’s true identity ‘revealed’ in DNA twist – and Cain is in for a shock

Emmerdale viewers believe they have figured out the ‘true’ identity of hospital patient Henry, suggesting he may be related to a well-known character from the Dales.

The soap’s episode on Thursday (January 2) centred around Jacob Gallagher’s (played by Joe-Warren Plant) first shift as a medical student in the Accident and Emergency department. The day began with high drama as a stabbing victim was brought in, who Jacob mistakenly believed to be missing teenager April Windsor (Amelia Flanagan).

This led him to contact her worried father Marlon (Mark Charnock). Meanwhile, Cain (Jeff Hordley) and Moira (Natalie J. Robb) were also at the hospital for an appointment following Moira’s brain tumour surgery.

Additionally, Jacob’s on-again-off-again girlfriend Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill) was admitted due to alcohol poisoning, from which she later recovered, reports Leeds Live.

Throughout the episode, an elderly patient named Henry featured prominently. He was seen waiting for his appointment and formed a bond with Jacob, offering solace to the anxious medical student.

Henry also had a conversation with Cain, reminding him of his late father Zak Dingle (Steve Halliwell). Towards the end of the episode, it was revealed that Henry himself was unwell.

In an emotional twist in the latest episode of Emmerdale, Henry’s death left Jacob devastated. Fans on an Emmerdale Facebook group, however, are buzzing with theories that Henry might be tied to a well-known character from the show, Zak Dingle.

Speculating about the connections within the village, one fan wrote: “Who’s with me on thinking Henry the elderly gentleman is Zak’s brother and this is whose graveside Cain goes to? ” This comment follows a foreboding scene which teased viewers with a glimpse of Cain mourning at a grave site in a flash forward sequence.

The theory has garnered support amongst the community, with another adding, “He looks a lot like a Zak! You could be onto something.” Echoing the sentiment, a third member posted: “I thought the same as soon as I saw him!”.

Looking forward to the new challenges his character will face, he said, “He is embarking on his first placement in A&E. He turns up at the hospital feeling energised and ready for the day. Knowing how long he has been waiting for this, [he] is proud of his new job.”
